Yesterday I woke up at 6:30 as usual to do my running before it got him. My right leg didn't really appreciate it much, my muscles were kind of sore and stiff, but I got out their anyway and was running at a pretty good clip.
The 1 mile mark came up a lot faster than usual, but my leg still hurt and was getting worse, so I figured I would stop at the 1 mile mark and walk back. Then my dad came around the bend.
At first, I just saw a figure with two small objects at his heels, as he was kind of obscured by a bush and the curve in the road. I figured it was probably the neighbor, walking his dogs. ... But our neighbor is never out this early and he has a German Shepherd.
My dad came around the bend just then and I could now see 2 puppies nipping at his heels. None of our neighbors have puppies, what's going on? So I turned on the speed and sprinted the rest of the mile and up to my dad.
He said, "I bet this is a sight you didn't expect to see!"
Apparently, as he was running that morning (he runs earlier than I) a truck that we've never seen before passed him on the road. Now, in a town our size, and a road as untraveled as ours, you know everyone's cars and who drives by when. So he kept running until he came to the gravel section of our road. Two lab puppies dashed out of the woods and started barking at his heels.
Finally he had to stop, he tripped over them so many times and he started to walk home when he met me. I took them the rest of the way home, gave them some water. They are really cute puppies, a black and chocolate lab. Right now their names are Beatrice and Mo.
We believe they're purebred labs, but we don't know, obviously, the truck dumped them on our road.
Anyone want a puppy?
We're trying to find homes for them, since we already have a dog, and we do not have time to take care of and train two puppies. We'll be taking them to an animal collection place today, since no one's spoken for them so far.
